They don’t have engines or coolant systems, but they still have vital components that need routine service. Why do I need to maintain my trailer?
Trailers are designed to carry a significant amount of weight, and as such, have their own complex suspension systems. Most trailers also have their own set of trailer brakes. Without trailer brakes, the vehicle responsible for towing the trailer would have a tremendously difficult time stopping. Without adequate suspension maintenance, hauling large cargo or heavy loads becomes very unsafe.

Suspension Services
Just like a normal heavy-duty truck, heavy-duty trailers have a complex suspension setup that needs to be maintained. Trailers with air suspension may have airbags that wear out over time, or their valves and air lines begin to leak. Trailers with leaf spring setups may experience rust and corrosion issues or see bushings go out. KC Fleet Care is prepared to maintain these components in an efficient and effective manner.
Brakes
Most heavy-duty trailers have their own braking systems that need to be maintained on a routine basis. Whether they be fluid-based or air-based, there is complex infrastructure that breaks down over time. If your trailer brakes become loud, or the brakes on your vehicle start to overheat, chances are you need brake maintenance.
Bearings
Any wheel that doesn’t have a drive axle going to it has a bearing that needs to be maintained regularly. When bearings fail there are generally two major symptoms. First, you may notice significant heat coming from your wheel hub. Second, your wheel will make loud scraping noises while rotating. Ignoring these symptoms would be a costly mistake if a bearing fully wears down, your wheel could fly off.
